Climbing New Year Rose

Above photo is from 5/19 after planting. This was a bagged rose.

Below photo is from 5/30, look at all that new growth!  Lookin' good, Climbing New Year!

Tiffany Rose

This rose bush is the biggest one I've bought so far this season.  It is gorgeous and the flowers smell so wonderful!  I think it is my favorite rose bush so far :)

All opened up, such a beautiful bright light pink with yellow undertones.

CL Fandango Rose

This is my second rose to really start blooming this year, a Climbing / CL Fandango Rose.  Also from Windmill Pan American Nursery.

Opening up from a beautiful orange tipped yellow bud to an almost peachy orange.  It does open rather quickly!

After a day in the hot sun the peach/orange/yellow turns to a bright red orange and is quite pretty!

Lots of buds on this one! Can't wait to see them all opening :)

Double Time Hybrid Tea Rose

This is my first rose to bloom in my new rose garden! It is in the front bed. It is not a well known rose and seems to be a hybridized creation from Pan American Nursery Products Inc out of Canada, I'm planning to e-mail them for some confirmation. It is not listed on the American Rose Society's list but is similar to the Paradise rose in looks according to some gardenweb rose growers.

Two different blooms with different colors were the first to open. One was lavendar and one was pink.

The pink one was bigger and was lighter tipped with dark pink.

After they opened up the pink one was huge and so pretty!  Love the double toned pink.

Check out that color change on the same rose! After a day in the hot sun the rose was almost all hot pink!

This is my first rose plant to bloom! I'm so excited and completely in love with the bright colors, even if they are a little different than the photo on the box.

Okay this is just a note to myself, today (5/18/12) I treated all the rose plants with Bayer All in One Rose and Flower Care Concentrate and trimmed off all the blackspot on our small established rose. It says to reapply in 6 weeks so that would be... 6/29/12 -- just so I remember the date :)

I am new to growing roses and am really excited!  While at Meijer I saw a stand of bare root roses in small containers and was intrigued by one called "Blue Girl" so I bought it and had it for about a week or so before planting it.  There was no growth on it and it was just a stalk with roots.  I'm not sure if it will survive but I hope it does! Maybe next year I'll get a flower out of it!  I did find another Hybrid Tea Blue Girl rose from a different brand / different store - but also bare root and looking in even poorer condition (pretty much dead but I am hoping it is just dormant) and purchased it since it was the only one left. I planted it close to my first blue girl and also planted a third bare root plant in that corner of my side yard flower bed, the third one being a Hybrid Tea Peace rose.

That is all for the first corner but I am worried that it might not be getting enough sun! We will see if a few weeks, I also planted some in the back yard with lots of sun and I will compare growth and possibly move those first three.

Will get some pictures up shortly. Hoping to keep this blog as a chronicle of their growth :)
